I've got a Corsa exhaust that has some dents in the mufflers. Any tips on how I might get them out?
Thanks!
Make up a story about how you racing a mustang and he launched his motor sending debri all over the track subsequently denting your muffler. This way you have actual evidence.

If you bring it to a dent puller.. you might have a chance. I've done some pretty good body work but I wouldnt try too much. Heat is your only recourse here. Im thinking a quick jab with a very hot torch to get the metal to shrink. When you dent, you stretch in general.
I would think you will wind up with some discoloration.. send some photos so some people much more intelligent then I can comment.
If its a full exhaust that will fit a 96 I will give you $400 site unseen My eyesight aint so good.

Good idea on the pics. It's actually off a '96. It's complete, but having trouble getting the short pipe after that cat off on one side. Not sure what I am doing yet, but I will think about it...thanks!
Not too sure...I guess that's worth exploring too. It's a '96...
They won't sell to me simply because I didn't buy it. If I buy an incomplete system, they will send me the replacement part AT A HUGE COST where it is almost cheaper to buy new especially when you consider support. Give them a call, explain your situation to them HONESTLY and see what they say. They probably heard all the excuses so you probably don't want to lie. After all, if they take offense to you implying they are stupid enough to fall for a transparent lie, they might decide they don't want to help you. I know I would.
Good tips, worth trying. How is the pressurizing done? Thanks!
When I've done this method previously, I used rubber bungs/plugs that are used for pressure testing things like Turbo cold side piping for leaks. They are rubber w/steel washers and a bolt going through, you stick 'em in the pipe, tighten the bolt/nut and they expand and lock into the pipe. They're typically a couple bucks and look something like this:
Plug one end, then use a similar rubber on the other end, but w/o the bolt through it. Meter air pressure into the muff through that bolt hole -or what ever method you've devised for your air delivery- using something that gives you a lot of control of the air, like this:
Get the dent glowing red -the red'er/hotter you get it, the more control you have IMO b/c it won't take as much pressure to push it out. Anyway, heat it hottest at the points where the metal has to change shape the most to eliminate the dent. You basically manipulate the shape of the metal w/the air pressure and the way that you heat it. It's pretty cool to do, and rewarding. Leaves no marks other than bluing from the heat, which you could probably mostly wire brush out after done and cooled.
When I bought Corsa for my C6, the muffler's came dented...right from the factory! Only $1200 for dented muffs and two pieces of pipe.
