Perhaps you should forget the butt connectors altogether. Solder with heat shrink.
Efficacy debatable. Show me real evidence that soldering and heat shrink lasts longer and perform better than quality properly installed heat shrink butt connectors.

THAT is the caveat. IF you crimp it properly and not overheat the heat shrink plastic, it is a push compared to the solder done right. Both will hold the wires together. I have bought a couple of boxes of the connectors that weren't as good as others so that changes the equation for me. They were quicker to break under heat when trying to close the ends with the flame. I put electrical tape on them till I got better ones that would melt and seal properly. I forgot what brand they were but it was some "mom & pop" store in the middle of nowhere.

Totally agreed. Believe me, I don't cheap on electrical things on any vehicle. I actually invested in quality crimpers and strippers and i'm meticulous about anything electrical. I like my car not on fire and melted

That would be what I do. I have bought enough cheap stuff in my life where today, "If it is too cheap, I can't afford it.". If I can't swing the price, I'd rather wait to save up and get it next week, next month or next year than to buy something cheaper and regret it at my leisure. BTDT. No thanks. BTW, I'm more concerned about a fireball that traps me in that mess I created. The car I can buy another one of. The body, not so easy.
