Default FX3 - Bouncing a troubleshooting question

Disclosure: I actually installed FX3 into my car that didn't have it, so pretty versed on it...my question is looking for an a possible similar scenario that you may have had that I'm seeing now that I don't quite understand.

So, after a few years of storage due to repair issues, paint issues etc....I've gone full bore to get her back to tip top. The FX3 has rebuilt shocks and has worked flawlessly since I installed it.

Now after storage, I have two codes 14 and 21, timeouts in the two fronts. I replaced both actuators with spares to verify as I think one old was cracked, unsure on the other.....repair spares both still have the same issue.

Using Gorden Killebrews plugs for A to C grounding and plugging it in for 2 seconds, remove, and do it 3 times within 10 seconds.....I am not sure the codes are actually being cleared.

Here is why I say/ask this.....after trying to clear the codes after verifying the shocks teeth spin end to end freely, changing the actuators and "clearing" the codes, 14 and 21 continue to remain. SOOOOO what I did was disconnect the right front motor completely......IMO, that "should" ADD another code which would be "out of position".....which is code 32.

Restarting the key, I would expect to see 3 codes now instead of the two.....but I only see 2.

So it seems to me that the controller may be messed up, it won't clear, doesn't seem to look or add the 3rd code being forced as a test.......

Does my approach makes sense to test to see the module working? I think it does, looking for others opinions to see what I may or may not be doing wrong......

Next step will to be physically measure the hall effect voltages at the controller to see if there is a disconnect in the wires......but having both fronts out......is suspect.......and not clearing or having added codes gives me pause............

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Chris

PS: I have a thread in the F/S section looking to buy a replacement controller, if you have one, I'm looking to have a reasonable cost spare and to do the testing. TY.

with the actuators off the shocks but plugged in, have someone what the gears in them while you turn the key to on. The FX3 does a self test, that will show if the actuators are truly moving, if so then check the gears on the shocks to be sure they are able to move.

Also check the height of the Actuator on the shock, maybe it is not contacting completely

So I had a few moments to mess with it, I removed both sensors from the shocks, both spin and move in both directions. When I took off the front left, the motor fell apart (replacement unit......good grief) and then put the original back on, and cleared the codes, now I only have a code 14, so the unit clearly is working, but I've done something incorrectly. I think the motors are not seating, but strange that it worked up til I recently......I'll play with it more this weekend, but as mentioned, FYI leave he motors connected to test the motors to see if they spin and verify the codes.....I got a bunch including out of position......I was able to clear them, so now I only have 1 code active, right front, probably just a seating issue.......will report back when I get it working again.

Recollection is about 17ftlbs. More important is the height of the shaft for the actuator to be fully seated.
