Default Beat the dead horse! PLUG WIRES!

I have a set of Moroso Blue Max on my Vette right now. The previous owner did use -some- wire harnesses and but some of the wires were touching and laying on the block!!! NOT GOOD! What I need to know is what set should I use as a replacement. My needs are good insulation from hot 383 stroker and headers and good performance. I don't think I need 10-11mm wires but at least 8.5mm. I was looking at MSD, Magnecor, NGK & Moroso. I don't buy the Nology HP spark capacitor stuff. So just the basics. I know with MSDs you crimp your own wires, is that the case with all of the others? Looking to spend $100 maximum if I can help it. Any quality premades for my L98? Car is used mildly on the weekend for some slightly agressive driving etc. Might be using at the track in the future, so it would be nice to factor that in.

Thanks!

I use the Taylor 409 plug wires, and they are basically just their Taylor 8mm wires that have an additional coating on them. They ran about $90 for my LT1 or you can go with the standard Taylor 8mm for about $60. I also put spark plug heat wraps on a couple of the ends that are closest to the headers as any of them will melt on contact. They sell the wrap ends in pairs and are about 5" long and are a slip on fit.

If it helps,I used the magencore wires before.Very good but 8.5MM wires are a pain to keep on the distributor, especially if you have a larger coil on top.
I was running the hypertech coil pack on top of the dist. and the magnecore wire boots were almost too fat to stay on there.Had to use a razor blade and thin the boots down on some sides to get the wires to stay pressed down. Then again, maybe the H.O. coil was a little larger then stock size making the fit harder to install.

Now im using Livewires and like them alot. They also have a insulated covering on the outside, almost like a colored braid, and each wire have numbers on them to keep from mixing up the firing order etc. They seem to work really well and I believe the prices are around 99 bucks or so depending where you get them from.

(I think theyre 8MM,I forget, been a while since Ive installed them and are red in color)

Ive also read/heard good results with the Taylors being reported online as well.

I'm gonna have to vote for MSD. They really do have only 50 ohms of resistance per foot which means more power at the spark plug. I've never pulled the end off of one either, which is a big plus for me, most other wires I've ever had just fall apart. Some of them also run very close to the headers without any adverse affects. Overall I think they are one of the best wires out there. The biggest problem is that they don't fit the stock wire looms, however I don't even have any stock wire looms anymore with the headers. On your L98 you can make a very good looking setup with these wires and you won't be disappointed. BTW, they are like $70
