Default drivers side window

The most pressing problem with the 84 I just purchased. I ran the drivers window down when I took it on a short test drive. Got home and the window would not go up. I took the door panel off. The window regulator motor runs in both directions. I raised the window manually and locked it in place. The tape/ track will run up and down no problem. How does that track attach to the window? Does it just push the window up and slow it as it comes down? Can the track tape be replaced without replacing the regulator? A lot of questions I know but I am not familiar with this type of window mechanism. I'm used to the scissor type. Thanks

The tape can be replaced. Mine broke. Parts stores carry it sometimes for Chrysler's. You are better off getting it from someone like Ecklers who will have fresh pieces and not old ones like some parts stores.

Window motors runs easily in both directions. tape moves both direction when its now attached to the window. Will go down with the window but will not push it back up

The tape is a typical failure in the early window regulators and fairly quickly. Recommended fix is replace with later, scissor regulators.
Those are faster and more reliable.
