'87 ALDLdroid diag on/off
Chasing getting some data from my '87. Using a 1320 Electronics BT adapter and ALDLDroid. Mask set to A028 adx. Stock ECM, MEMCAL.
Initial connection works fine in diagnostic mode, data looks reasonable. But, it's diagnostic mode, ECM is using defaults, etc.
When I turn off diagnostic mode via the toggle switch, connection is good, shows data. But, it's all off. Good simple example, RPMs constantly increase each sample, like it's adding current reading to old reading. Ends up going round and round like a clock. Other data seems just off.
Am I missing something with this? Does non-diag work at all?

1987-89 should support 160 baud and 8192 baud I think. Do you have the A059 adx file installed with ALDLDroid? Try that with the switches 1 and 2 down, and 3 and 4 up. See if 8192 baud kicks in. If you can get that to happen, then try switch 1 back up. Does it still work on 8192 baud?

Yes, I've had 8192 communicating, but same issue, data is off if diagnostic is off.
Besides RPM to infinite, the TPS is wrong, stuff like that. Turn diag back on, data goes back to good state.
I don't recall trying all the different adx, I'll give A059 a try, thanks.
According to file name for ALDLDroid (many come with install) A059 is
"A059-L98-LB9-1989-9600.adx"
A028 is "A028-L98-LB9-1985-1988-9600.adx"

As in yours is reading but in diagnostic mode? After connect, flipping 1 turns off diag. Trying to recall, think the steps are:
Hookup
Ignition on, not started
Connect
Flip 1 off
Start
Hookup
Ignition on, not started
Connect
Flip 1 off
Start

Alright thanks for the instructions, I will try this as soon as I can.
currently I was switching off the 10k resistor after starting and my data feed was completely messed up.
Other software like tuner pro don't need you to switch off the 10k resistor and apparently the diagnostic mode switches of when the 8192 baud mode is enabled.
which adx file are you using? The built in one?
