I recently change the wires, plugs cap and rotor on my 1989 corvette. when complete I started the car and idle the best it has every have. it reeved it from the motor while it was responsive after the idle went down it back fired. my mechanic friend said I may have the firing order wrong so I pulled up firing order had wire set correctly. Then started car again and it idled perfectly again. I then reeved motor again and it back fired again then completely shut off. Now it will not fire just crank. any thoughts?

Your timing is off. If I was a betting man I’d bet either your dist cap is not seated properly, your rotor is either loose or backwards, or your distributor is loose and out of time.

Seconded, if you replace ignition compents, set timing as well. It'll pop in the intake and bog down if it doesn't have enough advance. It's really easy to do, you just need a timing light .
