Default Fan runs when checking Engine Codes?

Hello!

I've got a 91 L98 Base, and the other day my Service Engine light came on while cruising on the highway. I got home and dug up instructions on how to pull them myself... so I take my handy paper clip and with the key off, stick one side in the "Pin B" part of the ALDL, which is supposed to be the diagnostic enable pin, and then the other side in to "Pin A", which is supposed to be ground. I then turn the ignition to on, and the Service Engine light starts it's blink procedure and gets me my code (it was a 32, but not relevant to this thread). However... one thing I noticed is while the jumper wire was in place and key on, the engine fan kicked on and sounded like it was running on high as long as this was all in place.

Is it supposed to do that, and if not... what do you all think has happened that would cause that?

That is the expected function of jumper A & B with 'KEY ON' for your car.

Well then... thanks for letting me know! I just wasn't expecting the fan to come on while that was jumpered. Interesting. Thank you!
