What would be the advantage of this modification on a 1984 'Vette? I can see it if you have a 383 or some big time HP which would require more stopping power, but for a stocker, doesn't seem feasible to me.....but then my old age must be showing.
Better brakes are never a bad idea. It doesn't matter how long it takes you to get to a speed, once you are there you still have to stop. After you hit the brakes the car isn't gonna care what type of engine you've got, it's only gonna worry about your inertia and how much heat you can dissipate.
I believe your question is more directed torwards the line of "should I have ordered larger brakes" Well, maybe, maybe not. Again it wouldn't be a bad idea, but there are fitment issues for certain wheels sizes and such. Better brakes are never bad, but you'll have to look at what's involved in making those brakes work on your car.

1984 Corvette brakes suck! They stop the car under normal driving but I wouldn't want to try and stop in a hurry if going really fast. Just my 2 cents.
