Would that require a different calibration or is that built into the cluster?
It's plug and play, nothing else needed.
Another option - there used to be places who would recalibrate your original tach and put a new overlay on it. No idea if those still exist, or how the price compares to used 8k clusters. Back when I did mine the clusters were still available new and were cheaper than the recalibration.
Odometer data is in the CCM/BCM....not the cluster.
I believe that there are years of incompatibility; some year ZR-1 don't work with others. WVZR-1 can clarify. He is "the man" for topics like this one.
Many years ago I thought this to be likely the 'direct interchange' for clusters. I've never confirmed the 'telltale' features of the '94 to '95 & '96. I had no interest.
ODOMETER is in the CCM
OP - for a direct swap you need '92 or '93 ZR-1
**************************************** **
1990 ZR-1 - 16133461 (260° engine oil temp)
1991 ZR-1 - 16142481 (280° engine oil temp)
The LCD's are assumed to be the same in these and they should exchange directly to '90 & '91 only cars.
1992 ZR-1 - 16158841
1993 ZR-1 - 16158841
The '92 - '93 base LT1 cars share the same "base cluster" so these numbers are considered directly interchangeable.
1994 ZR-1 - 16168031 ***
1995 ZR-1 - 16168031 ***
1996 LT4 - 16201621 ***
From this information it appears that '94 through '96 could use either of these for a direct exchange since the '95 & '96 base cars shared the same cluster.
***I'm not familiar with the telltale/warning lights on these
People have swapped LCD's year to year etc and mentioned no issues or issues that didn't concern them. I've paid little attention to that. Until a cluster tachometer is confirmed to be correct when compared to a scanner on the ALDL it should be assumed that it likely needs calibrated.
