Default Changed U joints.... GRRRRRRR knocking still there!!!!!!! HELP!!

I changed the u joints. all of them. While driving real slow when the left rear tire goes over very small bumps (small-medium) i hear a faint knockign noise. its not loud i=outside but only inside with the music off. It really bugs me. I check everything in the rear and tightened everything, sway bars, control arms, shock mounts, sway bar mounts, brakes.... i dont know what it might be! My only hunch is the shock. teh car is lowered a lot and maybe 2 years could kill the shock. It snot leaking or anything. WHile driving this noise does NOT happen. Even over huge bumps. WHeel bearings, the housing for u joints ive heard.. anyone???????

I had what started off as a faint knocking only heard while driving on rough roads. After a couple weeks it developped into a faint knocking on all types of roads and a few weeks after that, it turned into very noticeable knocking. Shortly after that, it became so bad I couldn't drive the car. Before it got really bad, I replaced the U-joints, then the wheel bearings. Nothing helped. Turned out the rear end had 3 teeth sheered off the pinion gear. There was a lot of scars on the inside of the case and everything inside.
Now I have a dana 44 with deeper gears in it, so I'm happy, but it was a source of frustration for a while.
Hopefully your's isn't the rear, but keep that possibility in mind.

Don't worry, I changed all the u-joints,the hubs/bearings and still had teh noise. Still have it to this day 35,000 miles later and all is fine.

According to Jerry Watts, the noise we hear is the brake pads sliding in the caliper. Hard to believe that, but he is the C4 expert.

i hear dabout the pad thing and i put shims in there to stop the play.. knock .. knock.... I would think that it could be the rear pinion. But, the thing is it ONLY does it at very very slow speeds, over slight and medium bumps AND it only does it on the left side. I think maybe its the shock.... checking that tommorow. the car is lowered about 3 inches so maybe the limited travel +drivers weight on that side took its toll... i hope thats it!

when mine first started, it only happened at very low speeds. I wouldn't rule out the rear, but that's the last thing to replace as it's one of the most expensive.
Have you checked the bearings? Also, if it might not be something on the left side, since the hollow aluminum axles can make the sound travel and sound like it's coming from someplace it's not.
I hope you find it. I understand how frustrating the problem can be. I couldn't figure mine out for a couple of months when it got so bad I couldn't drive the car.
