Service Engine Soon
Hello out there! I had a service engine soon light come on when I was at idle this morning. It came on for about 3 seconds then went off but the car started idling rough and surging real hard for about 15 seconds and almost felt like it was going to die. The smell of gas was real strong during this time as well. After the 15 seconds it seemed to smooth itself out and ran fine for the duration of the morning. No other lights came on and all guages were normal....Any ideas before I take it to my mechanic to check it for codes?

Don't take it to a mechanic and spend money that you don't need to spend. Get a paper clip and pull your own codes then post them on the forum. I'll bet you have something pretty simple.
