Default 1985 Corvette Oil Loss

Lost all oil in my car today in less the 5 minutes. Leak is coming from over the oil filter, gusher variety, but I can not pinpoint the source. Seems like a line broke. Any ideas what could be happening?

Well, first - an '85 is a C4, so you are on the wrong forum.

Was the oil filter just changed? If yes, you probably have a double gasket (gasket from old filter still on the block) or a defective new filter.

If no, it is less likely to be the filter, but not impossible. Not sure of there are oil lines on a C4 in that general area or not.

Have you looked for the source?

I clicked on C4 but mouse was a little jumpy...............Checked all of your suggestions before posting. Looked for an hour under the car with no luck but lots of oil flow running out when the engine was on. Ran out of oil to continue today. You would think a stream that size would be easily found, but with the tight quarters and all the stuff in the area, not that easy.

Just posted a reply in the General Section. Check oil sending unit on the back of the block between the distributor and drivers side head. Picture in other post.
