If you go in the dash behind the radio there is a res fuse. Pull it out and it will be disabled along with your horn. But that’s what I did on my 84 and car runs fine now.

The 1984 has a "Theft deterrent system".
When you open the door "SECURITY" will flash in the center panel.
Lock with door button, still will door open. You get a steady light on "SECURITY".
Close door.
To disarm you need to unlock using door key.

I pulled the fuse on mine and my horn still works fine!
