Water pump drive gear
My manual shows a special puller needed to remove the shaft. I am planning on an electric pump, new timing chain and gear set. I want to remove the shaft, but need to know if the puller is absolutelly necessary, or will it come off pretty easily?

If you've got the timing cover off and the timing gear out of the way there are two bolts that hold the water pump gear aseembly in place. The only other thing hold it is the bearing which seems to be pressed into the block. I'm sure the puller is recommended so you can remove it without damage. But if you don't care about that because you are replacing it, just beat it out with a hammer from the back.
Gotta take the intake off, but one good lick or two and your drive gear is gone. :cheers:
