On a 91 is the air pump bracket the same one as the alternator bracket? I realize the upper for the alternator would need to be replaced if air pump is removed. Looking to clean things up and yes do know performance will not change. I am not checked for smog and don't have to go in for a visual either. I am pretty sure I an fab up an idler bracket after 40 years of machining.
Doesn't look that difficult to fab. Not sure what your time is worth plus the pulley and other hardware to make it work
I had something a bunch nicer than that. The one show only has support in 2 planes with nothing to stop it from bending forward edge loading the belt. As far as material I have a ton of aluminum here along with bridgeport mill, lathe and vertical CNC mill along with all the usual power band saws press etc. My time is just that at 66 and partially retired time I have. The way I see it GM did not design the mounts by accident and theirs is stiff in all 3 planes using the brace from the intake to the bracket. I am not prepared to delete it. This thought all started with just as I was going to take the car off the stands after being there all winter the water pump started making noises and a bunch of the air pump parts need to move out of the way to get easy access. Seems like a perfect time to just not bother putting it back. I was hoping to keep the alternator bracket and delete the air pump one, the reason for the original question.

I have used a similar bracket for over 25 years. It has performed well with no bending or breakage. The design has been good enough to survive over 3000 quarter mile runs.
