I went nuts trying to bring my passenger side door in a bit. I did what i thought was the right thing, and loosened the big striker bolt that screws into the door pilar. Well the damn thing wouldn't move. I dug out my repair manual and it said to do exactly what i was trying to do.
Well i finally took the striker bolt completely out and i could tell that what ever it screws into, can/will slide back and forth to accomodate adjustment. Problem is, the hole in the body is round and the same diameter as the bolt-no slot or oblong hole to allow adjustment. Who designed this one? This job should have taken me three minutes. Anyone know a secret? I'm thinking about taking my Dremel tool and widening the hole.
The bolt is threaded into a floating plate. When I adjusted my door I loosened the bolt, marked original position, just in case & used a rubber mallet to move the plate slightly inward. Worked ok. This was on a 95.
Lou, thanks for your reply. I tried exactly the same thing, but it wouldn't budge. The hole in the body leaves no room to slide. I guess i will have to take a Dremel and widen the hole in the fiberglass, unless someone knows a better solution.
