Hey. My name is Daniel and I have just obtained a 86 2dr C4 in Silver. It is in very good condition but I am having some serious issues with the 4+3 automatic overdrive. In town driving at 25mph it is constantly shifting up and down rather violently, chirps the tires. Even does it in 1st gear where its not supposed to be doing that. I would like to know how to disable this in 2nd gear and keep it for 3rd and 4th, if this is possible. Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Daniel!
I remember shift kits were an aftermarket mod and induced some of the symptoms you described.
A knowledgeable transmission shop should be able to help. But a trip to the C4 section is in order first!
Good Luck!!

Welcome to the forum, Daniel, and congratulations on your C4!
Agree with dahogan and Jeff T. that a visit to the C4 section is your best bet.
Best wishes that this is an easy (and inexpensive) fix.

hi daniel. welcoe to the c4 family. i have an 86e 4+3 that was silver...went through a couple colour changes and is now black.
first thing, you have the button to activate or deactivate the od functionality on the top of the shifter correct?
on startup, od is defaulted to ON.
i always press the button on my first 1st-2shift so i dont go into 2OD.
when you do this, does od stay off? is the thumb button working on the top of the shift ****?
