Default Runs rough after plug wire change

Just changed my plug wires and now the car runs rough as a cobb. It starts but back fires a bit and runs VERY rich. When I get some more light, I'll verify my wire paths and make sure I didn't cross any wires. Can someone give me the wire layout for the opti? I have one from another thread I used but it could be wrong. Also.... can I expect the car to run rough while it "re-learns" its settings (I disconnected the battery when I replaced the wires) :seeya

When I changed mine, I disconnected the battery and there was no 're-learn' time. I don't have my book with me now, so I don't have the wire layout.

I have crossed wires before and it ran just the same as you are describing.
the opti diagram is as follows : looking at the front of the motor to the left side of the opti, and starting at the top is 4,6,8,2 and the right side from top is 5,3,7,1. Hope this helps. :seeya

Here is a link to the wires laid out.

The top is the driver's side and bottom is the passenger's side. The firing order of the opti spark is in my Helm's manual at home. Perhap this picture helps some.

Thanks. :D I'll take a look this evening sometime. If I got a pair of wires crossed, I sure hope it's on the passenger side!! :cry
