My '86 has worked fine since the Centerforce clutch was installed by the previous owner about 2 yrs. ago. Lately, when the clutch warms up, it sticks and won't let me put it in gear at a standstill. It also fights when shifting.
When I do get it in gear, (most of the time by shutting off the engine and then restarting) it chatters and bucks badly when moving out. Again, this is only when warm. The thing works perfectly when cold.
I've rebuilt the clutch master and slave cylinder but that seems to have no effect.
One thing that may or may not be related is a split in the small hose that runs from the back of the intake to a heater hose. When the hose failed, it sprayed the bellhousing area with coolant.
Could this have contaminated the clutch and caused the problem?
there is a chance that some coolant got into the bell housing... but that is a rather tight seal... and if antifreeze can get in there, so could rain water.
with that in mind... isn't there an inspection plate on the bellhousing?
if so, I would remove and check. the rear main seal could have blown sending oil in... but that would make it slip.
I'm thinking rain would not be as bad as sticky antifreeze. I'll look around for any inspection holes to get a look or see if there are any places liquid could leak in.
