Default Fuel gauge not reading

Ok, so now my fuel gauge has decided not to go below full. Checked the resistance at the connection by the pump and it reads properly according to the manual. Any other ideas?
BTW, it's an 87 /manual trans

you can pull out the sending unit and clean it, but I didn't have a lot of luck with the procedure...after several attempts, I just put a new one in.....old one wasn't stainless anyway...Racetronix has a nice kit with gasket, new bolts. etc....in case you haven't pulled it out lately....
