How to remove reverse gear ignition lock mechanism?
Does anyone know how this bracket comes out of the bracket so I don't break it? It is the mechanism that tells the car when the 4+3 transmission is in reverse to allow the keys to be removed from the ignition switch. I want to sandblast the bracket and repaint it due to a mice **** getting all over it.

I believe that you need to squeeze (gently) the two plastic lock tabs (shown below) so that the cable can slide to the right and then be passed through the slot in the bracket.

Is that sound deadener or heat insulation ? or what ..
Dynamat Xtreme sound deadener, then I'll be putting down a layer of their Dynaliner heat insulation on the floor boards, firewall, trans tunnel, and cargo floor & back wall. I won't quite finish the driver area until after a ZF6 swap so I can cut the trans tunnel.
Swapping the busted heater core has evolved into a lot more.

Nice … I think these cars would benefit from both.
How much of a difference does Dynamat make in reducing cabin noise?
I'll let you know when it is all done, though I can already tell you the there is a dramatic difference when knocking on the bare fiberglass compared to the areas I've covered so far. Without the covering it's a very hollow rattle sound just hitting it with my knuckles. With the covering its more of a dull thud that stops very quickly. The cargo area seems to be the worst offender so I'm hoping it reduces some of the internal drone from the exhaust.

Oh nice! I'm just hoping I can get it all back together properly. Every nut/bolt I've taken out is in a little sandwich baggie marked with where it came from.

Makes sense, that panel is kinda like a membrane in an eardrum or a speaker. Glass has the same effect.
Did something similar on the roof of a metal bodied car, truly made a difference.
