I've been reading here since July, & decided to finally jump in & make my first post:
What is the best book or other source of info/instruction/diagraming of how to get various parts of the interior apart on my '96? (For example: the passenger side AC vents, the console shifter plate, dash, etc.)

Welcome to the Forum though you've been here a while now.
The best reference for your Vette is the GM Shop Manual set for your year.
To post a pic, upload it to your web site (you can open a site on the Forum), click on Image when posting and paste the URL of your pic (it's location on the web) between the brackets.

The GM manual you'll need looks like this , only with 1996, and can be purchased here http://www.helminc.com Don't expect to get much help from this one Welcome to the forum
Re: My 1st Post! Interior question inside.... (DCP)

86 L98 stock and it's gonna stay that way for a while
Re: My 1st Post! Interior question inside.... (DCP)
thats an interesting book... they usually destroy those once the car comes out and the full version is ready.
my guess? the 1996 prelim only covers engine controller differences... and they were editing those into the new full 1996 book - with interior and body issues included.
I would save that book as a piece of history... and invest in the full 2 volume Helm's service manual.
Re: My 1st Post! Interior question inside.... (DCP)
I'm not sure what you bought but is it a Helm's manual? It doesn't look like it by the picture on ebay. I believe Helms has 2 books in a set...at least mine does for my 92LT-1 and my 94 Z-28. Did you get a 2 book set? the info you want is towards the back of book#1 starting around chapter 8.
Notice the description says "It contains Diagnostic Information and Procedures, Schematics and Routing Diagrams, Component Locator, Repair Instructions, Description and Operation, Specifications, and Special Tools and equipment. Service information on HVAC, Body & Accessories, Restraints, Steering, Suspension, Driveline/Axle, Brakes, Engine and Transmission/Transaxle."
It doesn't mention interior. Can anyone verify that this particular manual includes interior before I spend another $120?
Thanks for all the help so far!
BTW, is anyone interested in buying the prelim I mention above? I'd sell it for $60 ($5 less than I paid).
Re: My 1st Post! Interior question inside.... (DCP)
That book just shows the differences between model years. It's supposed to be used in conjunction with the 1995 Shop Manual. When the full 1996 Manual is available it is supposed to be tossed out.
I fell for the same book. Do you want one for a 1994??? :D
Re: My 1st Post! Interior question inside.... (DCP)
Did you get the manual yet?
I've had mine at the shop and I took it home for the weekend. I see everything your looking for in the Helm Service Manual.
So far the one and only thing I can't find for my own personal use is a reference to the fuel return line filter. You can find dash and console related stuff in the A/C and Body section. There is even an exploded picture of the sunvisor that I never noticed before. :D
