I hope someone can help me here because this is driving me nuts. Here is what happens. Once in a while (about 3 times a week) the car will not start or idle unless I keep my foot on the gas pedal. Its like the idle screw was set back. I will some times have to drive with my foot on the gas and the brake (like today). Drive a few miles shut it off, and then starts right up without having to put my foot into it and idles just fine. Sorry for the rambling, thanks for any replies.
Also check the fuel pump relay. If it is grouchy as for starting don't cranke the hell out of it..........unplug the relay and use a jumper wire to connect the tow outer wires together. then crank it........if it was the relay that should fire it up......... you can drive it without the relay even in there .( i'm doing that now because money is tight and i can't afford one till friday) .... try that as a test...... after it starts pull the jumper wire and just drive it.... :seeya
I had an intermitent starting problem, ended up being the fuel pump. They seem to last for about 100k then they take a schitter. Can you throw a fuel pressure guage on your schreader valve.
That car has Bosh injectors, if they have never been replaced. They are crap. Check the resistance at the electrical connection you should get 16-17 ohlms. If you don't get that resistance, the injector is bad and replace the injector or get a new set. Not Bosh though, ask the Chev dealer for part no# 10108481 injectors (green band) which is another brand. They will know what the brand name is. If I think of the name I'll post it, it escapes me right now. I think I Could be having a senior moment right now. Any way thats what I learned from Gordon Killebrew when I asked about the same question.
