1st requirement would be A4 or M6? There's internal differences in dimmer/wiper, SIR etc but so long as you 'paid attention' to which you used there's certainly options that you could maybe consider.

Mirrock's Interchange is a very good reference as far as an 'assembly' is concerned but 'components' could be used to create a mix for an individual's needs.

'93 and '94 'very' different but if a person knew what they were working with a person could accomplish it with a few 'component' swaps I believe. Dimmer & pivot/wiper different, likely the SIR coil (I didn't look) but could likely be worked around.

I have been dreading this hob as well. I have 2 96s that have steering wheel movement. I found a new knuckle on ebay for $145. Now i wonder how hard it will be to swap it out.

http://www.steeringcolumnservices.co...rebuilding.php This place will sell you the instructions for $19.00 or a video as well step by step and they do have parts . Was looking at the housing set ( there people are the only people that seem to offer the set ) $525 but I think like you I am going with the knuckle . I talked to a rebuilder and he said very rare that the upper part weirs out ,the upper part of the housing has the bearings in it and said he has never had to replace the bearings so just like you going with the knuckle .. and I guess will buy the instructions ,going to get a friend to watch my back on this deal two sets of eyes better that one .. Tried to buy a used one ,I think all of them are worn out .. If I mess it up the guy said just put all the parts in a box and send it to him gets them that way all the time no big deal .. LOL . I guess I better look for a box first never know ..
