Under what conditions? Stock tune? Other modifications?
You don't get the bang for the buck from a cam without doing other things

You can put any cam you want in the car, so long as the engine is setup for that.
If I were to take a stock 87, and just put in a cam, I'd do a ZZ9 or Accel 74211, but I'd get the chip redone after a dyno tune. It wouldnt be optimum, but it would make more power. At this age, you would really be better off doing the rest of the heads over as well. New springs, valve job, Ti locks, 1.6 RR, etc.
You could then start doing bolt-ons like headers or porting base/plenum/runners after that if you wanted.
Personally i'd do the latter first and work towards the cam/heads install, then do the chip last so its all optimized.

No it isn't worth it. Have you squared away who will do your tune? What intake and headers combination to maximize that SYSTEM? It all works together as a SYSTEM and not a piece here of this and a piece here of that. Large cam means you probably will have to tune the chip and refresh the head with fresh springs. All of that needs to flow or you will choke it so you need intakes to get the air in and LT headers to get the air out. While the heads are being done, you can easily install a cam. After which, take it to someone for dyno tuning so it will be optimized or you are going to be leaving stuff on the table or pissing away money.

I thought as much.I have a built 400 full roller cam balanced and blue printed motor in my Vette now.I know it"s capable of a lot more horsepower. I am thinking of pulling the motor and putting the stock one back in and selling the Vette. Thanks for the reply's guys.
