Default 1993 lt1

I have owned a 1993 Coupe for the last 9 years. The Optispark was replaced twice along with the coil and ignition module. Several weeks ago I had her out and she died. Tried to start and she just cranked. A short time later she started. Towed to a Chev dealer who are Corvette Specialists and after 1 week of trouble shooting determined it was the fuel pump. After $678.00 I now have the same problem (did make it out of my garage).

Any ideas????

So you're back to a "cranks but won't run" scenario?

Can you check the fuel pressure? What is it?

Fuel, spark, air, compression. What are you missing?

Are the fuel injectors original?

I have a 93 and bought it new. Never brought it to any garagr. Get the service manual first. Second sounds like you are throwing parts at it.. Are you the original owner? Any modifications? There are items that will wear with mileage heat is one of your largest problems and that OB1 is tough to pick up codes. So what make of Opti vented? Was the water pump changed at same time of opti? )always ask for parts to be saved when replacing}The only problem i ever had was the opti and dead water pump spitting on non sealed factory opti. {gasket around unit) is not sufficent unless marine silicone is used. As far as coil and ignition module they are bullit proof the replacement are all low bid items that fail even quicker than the original.I know i went through all this bull **** since 1993. Send me any questions i will be glad to help you.

They replaced the Fuel Pump. Picked up the car on 7/31 and did not start it till 8/7. Got half way out of the garage and it died. Same problem. It was towed to the same dealer and on the 14th told me it was the opti spark plus the car was hit by a tech. This will be the third opti spark if I agree. The one that is in the car was installed by them in 2013 and with only 2000 miles on it. A lot of issues with this dealer. It is said that they are the Corvette specialist in the Chicago land area. I will put the dealers name out there if they do not agree to my terms. Oh they said it through a code 55. This is a fuel issue. Code 36 is opti spark????

It's worth a visit to the the dealership to discuss the situation. SM, GM, or Dealer Principle ( owner). Dealers are supposed to guarantee their work 12mo/12k. Of course a new failure wouldn't be covered, but possibly discounted. After rereading post. You want to see Dealer Principle and discuss his service dept.

you know this is good advice.

i had my ostrich moates adapter ‘wiggle out’ of the ecm socket. Likely bc of increased vibration from solid motor mounts.

at WOT, especially with a good hook in 1st, the car would suddenly lose all electrical power.

i chased grounds for 6 months , until i realized it wAsnt the grounds - it was the adapter wiggling out of the ecm socket !

i guess a chip could wiggled out too if it wAsnt latched i properly

I had this problem and it turned out to be the bcm, which is a pain and the don't make it any more. Had to send it off to have it rebuilt. Runs great now.

Fuel injector issues? ON LT1's? GM Multec 1's on 92-93 LT1's and older L98's are KNOWN failure items. They go bad all the time. Common. WTH are you talking about?

You can either diagnose the issue or throw parts at it. Testing is cheaper than parts. If people hate to pay for a good mechanic try paying a bad one......
