Bought a Hypertec Power Programer Yesterday

He lost HP and torque when he used the performance tune.
Also, IF you decided you wanted to go back to stock, and it didn't download the program properly you will need to go out and buy a new computer (or find someone to overwrite the flash). It is (or was) somewhere in their documentation.
It is good for what you have used it for...not much else.
I have considered selling the HPP3 in order to buy LT1EDIT software and a cable since I have a new laptop to run it off of. I'd like to play around with some of the settings myself
I also have adjusted my shift points, and compensated for the different tire diamiter of my 18"ers, and adjusted the speedo to compensate for rear gears.
I have the performance program installed and lke it fine!
Only way to know if the performance program works is to take it to the track and run it, the change the program back to stock, and run again.
I think you will like it on a 100% stock motor, but as soon as you mod the motor, your best bet is to custom reprogram the computer

Hypertech keys the HPP's to YOUR computer serial #. Once keyed it can't be used on any other car (at least that was the way the HPP 2's were done).
If you buy it, you'll need all kinds of paperwork to send back to them with the programmer so they can erase the memory so you can use it.
It's their way of making you buy one for every car you want to program :mad Sounds like they took an idea from MicroSloth....

I had one once upon a time (when I changed my gears), and I went back and forth at the track one day with and without programming, and ALWAYS ran SLOWER with the hypertech performance tuning. Like I said, some of the basic features are useful, but.. read on.
When I started getting more serious with my mods, I sold it on eBay (and actually got about what I paid for it!), and used the money to buy LT-1 Edit.
LT-1 Edit is one of the most versatile programming tools you can buy. You do need a laptop (or, you can use a desktop), but the features are incredible. You won't even beleive the things you can Edit. If the PCM controls it, you can change it.
Check out http://www.carputing.com/ for more detailed info. You can buy the program for $150.00 (half the cost of the hypertech), and you can probably pick up a laptop cheap. I bought a used Dell Pentium for $100.00. So, for the same money, you can get a laptop and an infinately more versatile PCM programming tool.
Sell the Hypertech on eBay (or to someone you don't like), and get LT-1 Edit, you will be very, very happy you did. If you know someone with a registered version of LT-1 Edit, you can get your VIN added to their software for only $50.00 (which is what I did). Like the Hypertech, its VIN dependant. But each program can have up to 10 VIN #'s on it. For the money, there is nothing better. How doe they compare? They DON'T. The difference between the HPP and LT-1 Edit is like trying to compare a CHEvette to a CORvette... And thats no joke.
Best of luck! :chevy
As for selling the HPP, once you REMOVE Hypertech programming from your car, it can be used on another car. So selling it is not a problem. :yesnod:

If you buy it, you'll need all kinds of paperwork to send back to them with the programmer so they can erase the memory so you can use it.
When programming with the Hypertech it stores your VIN, and can only be used by this VIN. However, if you unprogram the original car, it can be used by another VIN. You can only program one car at a time.
Nevermind.... :jester
