1990 Oil Temp Sending Unit?
Hello
I’m having a hard time finding this part. To date, i’ve been sent the wrong part (1 or 2 terminal) twice rather than the correct 3-terminal part.
Does anyone know of a reliable substitute?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Thrre are 2 oil sender/ switch units. 1 is large and for the oil gauge 1 terminal the other fuel pump and oil light.3 terminals and smaller. Most parts stores should stock it.

OP is looking for OIL TEMP!!!! For a '90 the GM# 10096136 or equivalent from a 'local' auto parts store should do.

Yup, most folks see “oil” and think “pressure” but what I need is the oil temp unit.
So far, both of the delivered “equivalents” have been wrong.
Surprised no aftermarket company has built one since the same part number covers a number of GM models.
One guy reported that he damaged his block because the part he used had non-tapered threads.
It’s been suprisingly hard to source.

Ecklers has the oil temp sensor. They are relatively hard to find.

Be careful....late l98 dash clusters are weak at best. They’re not linear and the readings can’t really be trusted.
Example- my rpms are actually 400-500 lower than the dash says.
My oil temp reads 100 at cold and 105 at operating temp
coolant temp works but not linear
lcd goes a little wonky over bumps sometimes then comes back
key chime / lights reminder only works when it’s really hot in the cab and the solder expands a little.
We are dealing with typical GM stuff that they still had problems solving 15 plus years later.
