So this evening my alarm went off for no apparent reason. When I put the key in the drivers loor lock I was able to turn off the alarm, left, then right with the key, but the interior lights would not turn off. I even got in, started the motor and closed the door, lights still stayed on. Shut down motor, got out, Cycled the alarm on and off about 3 times and still, all interior lights remained on. Then I put the key back in the drivers door and turned it to the left and the lights went off finally. Then I turned the passive mode back on and everything returned to normal. This happened to me once before about a month ago as well... I checked the door pins, no issues. The car wasn’t washed, so not a water issue. The drivers door got a new lock motor and all linkage is perfect now, so not sure what’s happening.
Anyone else experience things like this?
Your courtesy delay light timer could be going wonky. I may not even be related to your alarm.
However, check your door jamb switches that ground the light delay as they are connected to the alarm. Faulty door plungers could cause the courtesy lights staying on. So, you may have issues in the light switch, the door jamb switches or the wiring to these switches being shorted.
I'd try disconnecting your battery for 5 minutes, then reconnecting it. This could reset something that got messed up with the alarm activation and/or courtesy light timer...couldn't hurt.
Turns out that the plastic grommet striker that the pin hits in the jam was so flat that it wasn't allowing the circuit to open properly when the door was closed. I noticed that while driving if I wedged my elbow in between the seat and the door panel and pushed, the interior light would come on. I had a new grommet, popped it in and it fixed the issue. The difference is hardly noticeable, but it made all the difference in how things worked.
Known issue...horn contact ring is not quite perfect, enough energy can pass through between horn and contact ring to wake up ccm but not actually make horn blow but the wake up tells the ccm someone is in your locked car hence the alarm. Replace horn contact ring,.
