Default ECU Tuning Question

Hello all.. I want to install new fuel Injectors, but am being told that to install 42lb. injectors that I need to tune my ECU. Is this only something that can be done a t a dealer, or? What is required to make the adjustment, and is it even worth the trouble?

what year car ?

I did find out by looking at your other posts, so I will assume you mean the 94. In that case

https://www.google.com/search?q=1994...hrome&ie=UTF-8

will show what you need, TunerCat is one, and there are other solutions. Why do you think you need that big of injectors ?

Yeah, I'd like to know too. I find that adding larger injectors to a basically stock engine does more harm than good. Increasing the fuel spray will not necessarily increase your engine power and will (more often than not) create a rich condition that will send your O2 sensor crazy.

I understand the tuning question so are you just adding larger injectors or are you heavily modding your engine?

Hey guys, so yes I am asking for my 1994 base coupe automatic.. I have 72,000 miles and just went through the motor and have replaced pretty much everything except pistons, rods and rings. I also left original valves, guides and springs in the heads, just replaced everything else, timing chain, bearings, seals etc.. Car even has a newer Opti-Spark and water pump. These components were all in excellent condition, so I chose to keep them to keep costs down.

I have been going through the system trying to fine tune everything to get her running like new and am so close now. The reason I want new injectors is because after replacing the fuel pressure regulator, which made a huge improvement to the idle, on occasion and typically when hot I will get some stumbles at idle that shouldn’t be there. Also, on rare occasion and also with a hot motor and a fresh restart she will give me a really rough idle. When this happens just a few shots to the accelerator and it clears up. I put injector cleaner in the gas tank about 200 miles back, and things got better, but the situation is still there on occasion. I will be replacing the O2 sensors with Bosch and also a new AC Delco fuel pump, all factory spec, so other than plugs and plug wires, not much left to replace.

For the fuel injectors, Since I am ALL stock I do want to keep things factory, so from what I understand I need 24 lb injectors? All I want to do is install them myself at home, plug and play with no adjustments necessary. I am having a difficult time identifying the correct injector. Some have told me that modern inkectors attomize the fuel better and will be better than stock, which would be great as long as they plug in and profide factory performance. I don’t necessarily need a high performance injector and in fact don’t want to change anything, computer adjustments included, just an OEM replacement and if the design of the replacement injector is better, that’s just a bonus.

Which injectors should I get? I saw some AC Delco, but they were like $100 ea., so $800? Then I see entire sets for around $125, so I am really needing some good advice here for sure on what to get.

Thx.

Look at your first post. It says ..... 42 lb .......... injectors, that is why folks are questioning why.

Get the FIC Bosch injectors they spec for your car...

https://fuelinjectorconnection.com/c...esign-iii-24lb

plug and play... no tuning.

Not sure why you say a 42lb injector in your original post, yet are talking about a completely stock motor.

Hey guys, sorry for the confusion... This was actually part of my confusion as well, which prompted my initial post. Someone told me to go with the 42lb, which I now know is bad advice. I was also given advice to get "NEWER" more advanced injectors, whatever that means. I guess this could mean larger? Special tuning needed? etc.. But looking at the GREAT advice here from all of you guys, I now know that I need a stock 24lb injector, which is what I will go with.
Thx...
