Default identify wire...

In searching for the wiring of my fuel pump, which won't turn on, I found a black wire going to a connector then to something right under the last spark plug on the passenger side by the firewall. the wire comes back over by the battery but isn't connected to battery. The connector had melted being close by the exhaust pipe.....anybody know what this could be?. 1985...

Folks have had problems with the IAT connector which goes under plenum to the sensor mounted on the bottom of it.. Make sure its plugges in(2wire)
Also the EGR solenoid connector ,make sure it is plugged in.

Is temp sensor between 6,8 hooked up if so it could be just the connector from the old egr solenoid, but you need to make sure IAT is connected and didn't fall down
Good Luck
