Default Question about snout bolt

I'm installing a snout (the part that the damper bolts onto) onto the crank. My question is, does the bolt that holds on the snout have a washer on it or does the bolt go in without a washer? Is it a special washer? It's on a 95 LT1. And does anyone know exactly what size the bolt is? Thanks guys.

Okay, the bolt is a 7/16 x 2.5. (that's total length) The washer looks to be a specialized spacer or load bearing washer. Got any idea where I can find this washer?

I have found Buick Road Masters and Caprice Classics with LT-1s in Junk yards a good source for many under hood parts.
LT-1 Trans-Am's & Camaro's if you can find them.

A few years ago I suggested a WI (Wrought Iron) or HVY washer to a user to replace the OE 10128306 user never posted back.

Here's dimensions of whats considered HVY SAE. Perhaps someone will post back dimensions for you to duplicate. I thought the bolt was actually 2.25 length. You mentioned 'total' - was that including the hex head. I'm accustomed to 'under head' dimension for length.

Most small block chevy engines (pre LS-1) use the 9/16" crankshaft snout bolt and the same big thick washer. Even the 6 cylinder small blocks (the 4.3L truck engines) use that same bolt and washer. It's a very common part in the parts yards, and it's still easily available new. The bolt is 7/16-20 x 2¼ inches (under head, about 2 ½ inches total length including head), and the washer is a very thick 1¾" outer diameter washer. Moroso 38770 is one option for a new set. That one has an oversized hex head (3/4" wrench fits it). ARP has some 12 point versions, 134-2501 and 234-2501 are part numbers for their choices.

Type "Small block chevy harmonic balance bolt" into any search engine, or the search box on any "online speed shop" (Summit Racing, JEGs, Speedway Motors, even JC Whitney) and you'll find lots of choices.

I went to my local pull a part yard and found 2 old LT1s that had this washer/spacer. Problem solved.

How about posting the actual dimensions of the 2 that you bought?
