I've seen this mods over the years, not sure it provides any benefits, but doesn't hurt either.

I like the screen idea.
I have the aftermarket one. Not sure if it does anything but make a big hissing noise. Supposed to help a little according to articles I've read,

Your air intake mod looks great! Any extra free flowing air can only help. I did a similar mod to my '96 stock air intake.

Anything helps! Thinking of doing something similar to the front licence plate cover but with a heavier screen. I don't need front plates in AZ, but I think ill get a used one since I don't want to cut up my perfect original. Anything to get some air pushed up there.

Once you remove the front license plate cover, you'll see there's a lot of plastic that can be modified/cut away to allow some more air to enter. I cut away some of this hidden plastic, but kept enough so I could still mount my front license plate cover. The plate cover can also be modified slightly, cutting away a little of the bottom interior plastic without being visible. After modifying it, some air enters around the perimeter of the mounted plate cover, especially the bottom.
