Default TTS DataMaster replacement???

My older computer died big time and had Data Master on it and I need it or something comparable. Does anyone know of anything.Or can anyone recommend a reasonable scan tool. Are the cheap e-bay things even worth having? I'm not exactly a whiz at this stuff and any help/advise would be appreciated.

http://www.tunercat.com/DataCat/datacat.html

I haven't used datacat, but based on my 15 years experience with tunercat I expect it to be a good program with top-notch support.

One thing I generally go by is "Good things aren't cheap because they can't be and don't need to be. Cheap things aren't good because they can't be."

IDK about apple but if you have an android phone and are willing to invest in a bluetooth thing, try 1320 electronics and ALDL Scan which I think is free. http://www.1320electronics.com/ALDLScanQuickStart.html

Just can't see spending much on OBDI stuff. An LS is up and coming then I'll spend on HP Tuner stuff and if one is going to just get s code reader I imagine a cheap one is about as good as an expensive one but I'm pretty sure you know more about it than I do. I enjoyed using the TTS DataMaster and it was free except for the cable. I'm not really cheap but don't like overpaying for thing either. I really appreciate your input. Thank you.

If that is the case, get a paper clip to get the codes and that is all you need till the better motor gets in.
