this may be hard to answer, but my 92 LT1 is making an annoying rattling when the engine is revved and on deceleration when the exhaust burbles. it sounds like it is coming from an area near the right manifold. everything seems tight though on the whole exhaust system. i thought it may have been a heat shield, but my uncle says there are these butterfly flaps inside the header and they are rattling. i dont know what it is, but does that sound right? any feedback would help me narrow it down. thanks

Re: annoying rattle (bics56)
There are no butterfly valves inside the stock headers.
Your uncle is probably thinking about older cars with carbs thru the late 1980's when fuel injection systems took over. These had a butterfly valve that blocked the exhaust on the right side, which redirected the exhaust back thru the head, thru the intake manifold, thru the left head and out the exhaust pipe on the left side. This warmed the intake and base of the carb to improve warm up running. The LT1's do not have this system.
I had the same problem with my 1992 Vette also. It turned out to me the fuel line where it is connected to the right side inter fender well. Chevey has a retro kit for it.

Check your cats also. Mine had the same "rattle". The main cat was collecting parts of the precat. Both were breaking up. Eliminated the precats and replaced the main.
