The first is on the steering column. I replaced the turn signal assembly in the column today because they would not cancel. THey still dont cancel. I did put the blue piece back in with the two bumps what's the deal. The steering wheel is the telescope type how do you put the lock plate back in? the clip that has to be put in is the one that stops the center from coming out. I made a (tool) out of wood that looked like a pi symbol and had my wife sit in the seat and press with her feet. (it worked)
second question. I found out what is causing my vibration and I don't know how to fix it. there is play at the end of the tie rod that is closest to the steering rack on the passenger side. If I remove the boot is there something or some way to adjust the play out?
As for your first question: You can borrow a tool from autozone to do the work of your wifes feet...But I sure wish you had pics of that. :yesnod: Anyway, If the signal won't cancel, its one of four things:
Mounting screws for the switch is loose
Switch is broken (bosses broken)
Broken, missing, or out of position return or cancelling spring
uneven or incorrect canceling cam to canceling spring.
I'll scan a couple pics so you can see how it goes back together.
As for your second problem....I'll post another pic..point out where your problem is...remember the photo is from an 84 may have a slight difference.
Thanks for the pictures. I guess I could be fighting some body not putting a washer back in the right place. I didn't find anything broken in the steering column but I could tell it had been dissasembled before.
I still don't understand about the tool . I used to have one. on a telescoping wheel what stops the rod from telescoping?
