Does it matter which way the splined coupler that drives the water pump goes on? One end has a groove near the end, and I didn't pay much attention taking it off. Thanks.

Yes, it does matter.

An even better question might be "which way does it go?"

Unfortunately, I don't remember. But I seem to recall that my replacement pumps only fully seated with the coupler in one direction.

So flip a coin and give it a try. If you put the pump in place and it seats easily, you got it right.

According to the 93 service manual, it goes toward engine
