Default 1996 IP dim digital numbers/readouts

I just changed the light bulbs in my dash, but the digital readouts still look dim. Is it my imagination or are the readouts suppose to be that light? Is something going dead in my instrument cluster?

There's a polarized film over the LCD. It goes bad and the numbers lose definition. I fixed mine with a replacement from bate.com. Wasn't that difficult and his instructions are very thorough.

It could also be a bad ambient light sensor on the DIC (Digital Info Center).

If it is a bad ambient light sensor on the digital info center, what is the fix?

I'm sorry, but I just want to be clear. Did you have your whole IP rebuilt or just the LCD? and how much was it, if don't mine me asking?

Thanks

My problem solved. If your LCD readout is slowly getting dim/fading out like mine was, the problem for me was the polarized film over the LCD going bad, like 1964r2r5388 suggested. The restoration kit from batee.com is $59.95 + $5.95 Shipping. Thanks again 1964r2r5388 for pointing me in the right direction.
