Default Screwed up idle... help me please

Hey guys :)

After my last battery of mods (ford injectors, ported plenum, and AFPR), i had a real problem with my idle. At first it would idle at all, so i took out the IAC and cleaned it, put it back in and it started idling just fine. The cold start injector wiring also got broken.

I figured the cold start wasnt a problem, so i taped off the wires, and let it alone. After all this, my idle just wouldnt stablize. As it warms up, the idle gets very wierd, sometimes it will go up from an 800 idle to around 1300. Othertimes, as it warms up, the idle will go so low, the engine wont run. There doesnt seem to be any correlation between idle speed and temperature except that when it warms up the idle usually goes up (sometimes down though). Its gotten to a point that i carry a t-20 torx bit in my car to adjust my idle screw up and down to help keep the idle normalized.

I checked the cold start circuit and found its a crank only circuit (which is working fine) and since its crank only, it cannot affect the way the car runs after its started.

Anyone have experience with this problem? You think its still the IAC? MAT sensor? something else? Im not getting any codes at all. Im lost, frustrated, an getting really annoyed with having to pop my hood 4 times a day. :cry

Any and all help is whole heartedly appreciated

Milan

Have you checked out your EGR valve and vacuum lines?

No vac leaks, I did the old propane test for that. Everything sealed nice and tight. I will check the EGR. for the past few days the cars idle dropped and stayed down regardless of engine temp though, Maybe it fixed itself in the wee hours of the morning?

Any other thoughts?

I'd investigate the IAC ........ you will need to do a minimum air rate adjustment now that you've been messing with it. This requires setting the timing EXACTLY to the spec according to the VECI decal. Then you have to get into the IAC...... there's a procedure for setting it up but I am out of practice on that and my book is in my car (in the pouring rain) ...... but if need be I'll get it and quote it for you .......or someone that remembers can chime in .......sorry :seeya
