Default interior resonance cure? reduced, not eliminated

Ya, it worked!!! I couldn't believe it. It doesn't completely eliminate the noise, but it does reduce it. For what it costs to weld a weight to a muffler clamp, it is well worth it. I know of many other mods that cost much more and do less. Please let me know of anyone else trying this with their results. I'll be very suprised if they don't notice a diffrence. Jim

Lower the muffler slightly from the car on the hangers. Maybe 1/2" or so. Install Frost King Sound proofing under your carpet. ($60) if you do it yourself. Better yet, brown bread or dynamat. I like the weight trick though. Where, how much weight, etc. did you do?

I'm not sure of the weight , but it was round stocks of steel about 3 to 4 inches in diameter, and about 2 inches thick. My guess is it weighed about 10 pounds each.
What was done : Take this stock, and weld it to the very top of a muffler clamp (do 2 of them, one for each side), and clamp them about 2 inches front of the muffler, put the weight horizontally in line with the muffler so the weight is even with the mufflers, not hanging above or below the muffler. Like I previously stated, this will not eliminate the resonance, but it did noticibly reduce it in my car (93 Vette, LT1). Please let me know of your results. Jim

That sounds like a lot of weight to add to the car. Pics would help.

I'm not exactly sure about the weight, they could be only 5 pounds each.
That's why I described the size of the weights, 3 to 4 inches in dia. by 2 inches in depth. Could be only 5lbs each.
Also, I will take pics and will put it all in Tech Tips soon, Jim
