My car refuses to race.
First I blow a connecting rod bearing after racing only three times earlier this year with crappy success due to tuning and me trying to re-learn the car as it is a whole new animal.
I get the engine together and running.
Go to get it tuned on the dyno and there is a leak somewhere in the exhaust introducing extra air preventing the shop from getting a true A/F ratio # and I couldn't tune right because of it. At least the engine made identical power as the last 350 I had in it!
Then I promptly blow an oxygen sensor making the car basically undriveable for another weekend until I figure that out.
Then I burn up an ignition coil.
Then a track rental I payed $68 for is rained out 3 times in a row.
I get to New England Dragway the track and make 3 "eh" alright runs for the tune and lack o' traction (even on my ET Streets) condition that night. My ECM then promptly blows in the staging lanes waiting to make run 4 with a new burned PROM with some changes to try and get deeper into the 12s. I have to drive in limp home mode 110 miles home. Oh yeah overdrive is computer controlled, so no O/D for me on the way home. 3100 @ 70mph, thats fun stuff.
I replace the ECM and all seems ok for 24 hours.
I go to SloRVette's shop and the car starts burning fuel like a diesel train. Can't figure it out for the life of me what is going on. The car burns a 1/2 tank of gas nursing her home. I was supposed to race in a Vette vs. Viper shootout yesterday so of course it broke. There is a good 1.5 quarts of gas if not more in the oilpan when I drain the oil yesterday. Still trying to fix that. I think the ECM I just got is crapped out already, thank god for a warranty. I'm going to get another one tonight.
So anyways, here is to what turned into a crappy season. For anyone interested here is a video Mr. Magoo shot of me doing what turns out to be for now the last run of the season.... a sloppy 13.13 @ 107 the other night shifting easy around 5800 to make sure the engine was happy and had good oil pressure throughout the run.

...this girl just don't wanna race no mo'. :)
I hope you can pinpoint the problem(s), and at least get a few good runs in yet before winter hits. Good Luck to you.
:) You don't need any further details.
hang in there dude. it comes in cycles(or at least that is what they say)

I was talking to a few people about your bad luck yesterday at the track.......................our day to shine is coming!
I haven't even been able to try the nitrous system at the track yet let alone get a good N/A pass in. Sheesh! :)

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
It would run great for a little while, up over 30mpg highway (3800 V6). Then the next day, it would burn 2 gallons of gas to go 12 miles!!!!!!!
I think the final verdict was a combination of 2 things... a bad ground... and a vacuum leak.
I hope this helps some...
I know how frustrating it can be just fighting little issues for a long while; hang in there.
Brother I feel your pain. Although my wagon never really left me without a car....I know how badly you want to just *race* and enjoy it. I finally got a taste of the good life this past weekend at E-town. Truely the first time all season I enjoyed my car and times. Although they were not spectacular, they were definately 12s. It felt great to put it through its paces for one last time.
Hopefully the new 406 will be a little more friendly.
Keep your head up....You will get it.
Jesse
