hey does anyone out their ride on kumho tires?? if so how do you like them?? my local tire shop recommended them but i know little about them. are they good and dependable tires??
I have been running the Escta 712 on the rear of my LT4 for about 15,000 miles and so far I like them. Great wet traction and good dry traction, well worth the money..The only drawback is the largest in 17" rim size is P275/40/17 but side by side comparisons to the P285/40'/17 tire, if you didn't know which one was which you couldn't tell which one was supposed to be wider & taller. I am definately gonna buy another set....Pretty soon too. :yesnod:
I haven't had to buy tires yet, but I hear several people rave about their Kumho's. I think when it is time for me to purchase new tires these are the ones I'm going with.
I have the 712's on a Ford Probe that I autocross and I love'em. I also have the 716's on my Grand Prix GTP and have been very satisfied with them. The wet traction is great on both. I'm going to put the 712's on the Vette when it needs tires. I think for the money they can't be beat!!
Well, actually, the largest Kumho makes is 315/35/17. They are the V700 Autocross tire. But it comes full tread depth and is DOT legal. That's what I'm stepping up too next time. Have to tie down that 414 ft.lbs. of torque.
i have them on my 90 , had them for about 3k good when warm , could be squirrelly when cold, good in the rain, price is right , you can't really go wrong.
the kuhmo MX is another hot ticket if you want something more grippy than a 712 but not quite as much as a victoracer, the mx also has a much longer tread life, good rain traction & is a full depth tire. they also come in a 275 40 17 & are slightly wider than the 712. if you run c5 wheels they come in a 245 45 17 and 275 40 18 also.
I like them, I think they are one of the best tires you can buy for the money. Sure there are tires that may handle a little bit better, or some that may do a little better in the rain, but at what cost?
The Kumho's are very good dry, very good wet, last a long time, and they're cheap. Value wise they're a great deal.
They are great tires. They are stickyer. They probably won't last as long, but they are a whole bunch cheaper than Goodyear. Lost ~ two mpg, no big deal, I can live with 30mpg on the interstate.
I got my Kumho Ecsta 712's at the beginning of this summer. I've put about 6K miles since then, and I like them more each day. They perform well on both dry and wet pavement, and since I put them on, my 1/4 mile times have improved by about 0.25 seconds. I'd buy them again in a flash!
Put a set of four Kumho tires on my 85 vette. Have about 6000 miles on them and they are great. Good traction (as good as you are going to get with a vette) and ride well/quiet. Only thing I noticed is that when it's cold and they sit for a while they may have a temporary "flat spot" until they are warmed up after a few minutes of driving. I've been told that happens to a lot of lot profile tires.
& i just wish the kuhmo MX was made in a 295 35 18 !! oh well, hey has anyone used the yokohama es100? if your a fan of the kuhmo 712 you'll love yokohamas new tire, it's very similar to the 712 in wet grip and tread life but i swear they pull harder in the dry, i'm testing a set right now actually & am VERY impressed with them for the dollar.
