My '94 idles right at about 1000rpm. Seems like it could be advanced somewhat? It seems to have a rich smell while driving it, not sure if its possibly due to the timing being advanced or the muffler deletes.
seems like I should be idling a little less than 1000rpms though, thoughts ?
I would start with checking for a vacuum leak. The timing can't be adjusted on a LT1 unless done in the tune.
That is what I thought, Thanks Rich!!
So a vacuum leak could cause idle to run a little high ? According to the tach it sits right at about 1000rpm and then some at idle.. were should any LT1 (94) generally sit at ? I would think a little under 1000rpm..

The idle is dictated by the ECM computer.
My 92 LT1 idles around 800rpms when warm and at a dead stop.
It hangs around 1000rpms when warm and the car is rolling.
It idles at around 1000rpms when cold at a dead stop or rolling.
Normal Idle should be under 800. With a scanner you should be able to see desired idle, then check from there. Could be leaking thru throttle shaft, cracked vac line, pcv hose, ect. Could be sticking IAC?
Mt 92 was idling around 1200. I ran it with turner pro on my laptop and it indicated a bad IACV. STEP count was off.
Replaced the IACV and that brought it to 1000.
At some point the DAG coating had been removed from the throttle plates and I had bypass air was getting by. Replaced the throttle body and idle is around 800 at warm idle in neutral. between 625 and 650 in drive.
