Ever since I came back from the track Saturday I have this clicking noise that seams like its coming from the area around the intake. It almost sounds like a relay clicking on and off repeatedly. I figured that maybe the EGR valve is the culprit so I unplugged the vacuum line going to it and still the noise is there. Any ideas
Re: Strange clicking noise from around plenum area? (NUckINg FuTS)
If it only started doing it after you ran it at the track it could be a colapsed lifter, a bent push rod a bearing going out or even the injectors. Also a vaccum leak on the intake or plenum can sound like a ticking noise.

How frequent is the noise? I mean does it speed up if you rev the engine? Is it intermittent? If it only started after a race, I'd say check your rockers/pushrods, and possibly lifters..
Re: Strange clicking noise from around plenum area? (MrNuke)
The noise is not that frequent. It comes and goes. Its definitely intermittent. The noise is to loud to be an injector. i can literally hear it with the hood down and in the drivers seat?
Re: Strange clicking noise from around plenum area? (NUckINg FuTS)
I had an injector that I could hear in the drivers seat with hood closed. Don't think I heard it outside with hood closed. Was abe to hear it with hood open on passenger side. Also can be intermittent. If it is not an injector, my next thought is, as mentioned previously, valve cover time. Lifter would be my next guess. Intermittent liffter?? I have not seen one. Good luck

If it's a flat tappet can lifters can definately come and go. Also some engines have valve rotators that come and go........... I've even had stock type rockers do that .........when they are worn :seeya
