I live in the Metro area near Portland so have to go through DEQ. It's just an idle test with a peek to see if the cats are in place. HC was 123 (standard is 220 PPM or less), CO(%) was 0.9918 (standard is 1% or less)CO+C02 was 11.5 When the test started my CO was well below 1% then jumped over and settled down to 0.9918%. What could cause the CO to fluctuate during the test?

Really, just glad I got through. Next time around it will be with my new 383 built by Jim Barth!

Thanks, Went

At start up air pump sending air to exhaust manifolds to speed up O2 becoming active. Engine is in open loop as engine warms up air stops going to exhaust manifolds and engine goes in to closed loop. Engine going from open to closed loop .Just a guess.

In our area, the EPA check stations want the car/truck up to operating temperature.

I tooled up to the station after about 30 miles on the highway. Drove into another city and back then around town a bit. Then I had to sit in line for a bit. The temp gauges, oil and water were reading just under 200F when the sniffer went up the tail pipe.
