Mine is located atop the battery. That puts it close to the distributor, and it rides there very well.

I recently ordered a relocation kit from Summit that includes a mounting plate and all the wiring for relocating the MSD to the front of the car, to the compartment forward of the front wheel on the passenger side. I have a few other mods I want to complete before I relocate the MSD unit. Once I do I'll post pics :)

Had mine on top of the battery too, with some heavy duty velco. It worked fine. A shop that was doing some work on the car relocated it to the wheel well in front of the passenger side tire. I have seen some posts where some have mounted it underneath the battery. Had to trim the battery support some, but the unit is hidden if that is what you want.

There are actually two parts to the kit. There is the universal ignition wiring kit (pt.# SME-2803 for $12.95), and the universal ignition mounting bracket (pt.# SME-2804 for $19.95). Good luck
