Default Bench test FX3 shocks- is there a way?

I have a 1991 ZR1 with the FX3 and about 78k on the car. I've been looking for a new set of shocks for the FX3 system (I'm a stock kind of guy) but new ones are impossible to find. My current system is working just fine (no lights on the DIC) but just a bunch of miles and I'm sure that things have degraded.

I ran a cross a forum member who sold me his shocks off of his 91 ZR1. These have about 20k on them and were fully functional when they were taken off a year ago. My plan is to do a swap over the long holiday weekend.

Is there anyway to "bench test" the shocks to double check them prior to putting them on my car? I'd hate to swap them only to find out that one when bad on me. Thanks!

Not really other than to make sure shafts will rotate. The actuators are individual external parts, as opposed to internal used on other makes. I would want a few spare actuators, it seem they would fail more often than the shocks.

My thought was to disconnect the front actuator (as it is more accessible), attached them to the "new" shock and turn the ignition key to "cycle" the system. Then watch, listen for shaft spins and see if there is any DIC light.

Beyond that, I'm not sure what to do?

The front shocks are about as easy to change as any shock ever in the history of shocks.

Supposedly Bilstein has a "shock dyno". Their words, not mine. They use it to test the shock to see that it has the right qualities that it should. Are we talking about Bilstein shocks or "Made by Bilstein to GM spec"? I really wouldn't trust shocks made back in the 90s to be good.

They are not good. Other than to look at on the shelf.

They might be marginally better than a set from a high mile 91. But they are still old shocks.
