Default 1995 Coil wiring/connector help

I have had a persistent issue with my 1995 Vette. Overall it is a distributor problem, but my gut tells me it is not the distributor itself, although it is electrical... and electrical can cause problems all over the place away from the source.
So... here we go, the car starts and runs fine until it heats up, then it cuts out. Once it cools down it will start up again but will only run for a minute or two until it heats up again, H46 code i believe. But i noticed that the wire to the black connector on the coil is exposed and some strands are broken, and after speaking with an electrical guy, he believes that that is the source of the problem. I already bought replacement wires and connectors for both connectors to the Coil.
My question to the experts here- is soldering new wires on safe? my friend that i spoke to is an electrical engineer and was concerned there may be "noise" if the wire is soldered on since there is a large amount of amperage going through that wire to the coil. He suggested to replace the wiring harness all together, which.. i am just not enthused about, but if it is the best course of action, well ill bite the bullet.

BUT... is soldering on the replacement connector safe? Will there be "noise" and cause a problem else where?

Thanks for the help, this is part of doing the homework. If you don't want to contribute or this is too simple for you, please do not respond.
I am seeking some thoughts on the issue considering there may be further issues. Also, isn't the rule to start with the easiest thing first? Starting with a 12v exposed wire seems to be a good place to begin, plus its electrical... electrical is normally not simple.

Also didn't even answer the main questions...which has to do with repairing it.

I had the same problem with my 93 pretty much all of my wires in the area of the ICM & Coil where in the same shape. I actually Soldered in a Coil/ICM Harness I Pulled from a Buick Road Master because the appearance of the Aftermarket one from Standard looked and felt like cheap crap. I have had NO issues with the repair. as for heavy amperage what is it thru the Big red wire 10/15 amps the rest are low Volt and Need a solid connection. There has been a lot of discussion on weather to Solder or use a Heat Self Sealing Crimp I Personally use a Crimp cut off of a Replacement Terminal Connecter to make a Mechanical connection then Soldered and Shrink Tube.

Now for your Shuts down when Hot, I have had this Happen to me with a New out of the box Opti car was running great at 178 Deg. would shut off. did some research found a you-tube where a guy had the same problem and recreated the failure in a controlled way using a oven. So I would not rule out the Opti but start with $15.00 of wire harness to be sure you have good Connection.

Great, thank you. I was wondering why someone was worried about soldering a 12v wire, but his concern got me concerned considering it was the coil/ICM/distributor area.
Anyway, ill replace that wire (solder and heat shrink, got Ac Delco replacements), see what happens there.
