The interior lights on my 91 Vert flicker. Especially when I accelerate. I noticed the warning 'door ajar' comes on, even though the doors aren't ajar.
In the middle of the night, the alarm goes on and off at random. I'm guessing the alarm thinks the door is open since the lights flicker, as if someone was tampering with the door.
Re: Flickering Interior lights/Alarm problem (Steel Blue 91)
Its a bad door switch. They look like plunger buttons, black. One for each door and one on the hatch. Could just be loose or just need adjusting and not replacing.
Re: Flickering Interior lights/Alarm problem (vettmech)
Until you get the problem fixed, recommend you lock the doors with the keys, this does not arm the system. Electric door lock button arms the system.
Maybe for a test, dark area, start to wiggle/giggle, bump door. See if interior lights come on. Same thing back by hatch. Open doors, grab outside edge of door and lift vertically, checking for play. Also, check the little plastic stops for the door open/closed switch.
My money says left door ajar switch or pins/bushing.
Re: Flickering Interior lights/Alarm problem (dlmeyers)
Door or hatch switches need checking. Since you're getting the door ajar light when the doors are closed, I would bet it's one of the door switches. :yesnod:
Re: Flickering Interior lights/Alarm problem (R94 LT 1)
If you look at the switches in the doors, you see a small pin in the plastic plunger. The small pin is what actually contacts the body and turns off the lights. If the pin is too far in the plunger, the plunger won't be pushed in far enough. With a small flat blade screwdriver, pry both of the pins out slightly.
Re: Flickering Interior lights/Alarm problem (Sensei Earl)
Pull that small pin out a little on the doors. I had the same problem, I learned after I adjusted the door pins not to slam my doors. It was free info. I received here on the forum :yesnod: it worked
